ATOM & HIS PACKAGE A Society of People Named Elihu CD
[MTN 20 (split release w/ Suzuki Bean) - Fall 1997 - 9000 copies]
REVIEWS/DESCRIPTIONS:
"Atom and His Package has gotta be the most original and hilarious projects I've heard. When it comes to being inventive, experimental, and off the wall, Doo Rag falls next in line, but Atom adds humor to kick you in the ass with. With his trusty sidekick, the Yamaha QY 700 sequencer, he gives us his zany world of digital and electronic mania incorporating sounds from the discotheque 80's and beyond; however all these phunky ass beats and digital music correlates with hardcore, whether through covering "Break Down The Walls" by Youth of Today of Fugazi's "Waiting Room" to daydreaming about a punk rock academy "where everyone didn't make fun of [him]." A witty character with good stage presence to make even the assholes in the crowd crack a smile or two. If they come by your neighborhood, you better go see Atom and His Package. He even says he will play your house; he did mine." - Heartattack #17
"Pure genius! This is Atom (who used to play in a band called Fracture) and his package (a Yamaha QY 700 Sequencer) making some of the silliest, most hilarious songs you'll ever hear. I mean Wesley Willis is funny but this just takes the cake (each song is actually different for one). A lot of the songs are hardcore related which makes it that much more appealing, cause if you think about it, no one in the scene has ever really done anything like this before. The Fugazi "Waiting Room" and YOT "Break Down the Walls" covers are a riot, but I've listened to this so much that the other songs have actually grown on me to the point of not just enjoying the crazy antics of Atom, but some parts are really catchy and I find myself singing the throughout the day. Plenty of Franklin references throughout the CD (even a song about the singer - hilarious), who they happened to go on tour with (wish I could have caught that one). Definite highlights are "Me and My Black Metal Friends," complete with Cradle of Filth samples, "Goalie," and "180 lbs," about a curse he claims to have that makes him buy the worst records. Okay, I think you get the point. Hunt this one down." Second Nature #7
