Zantac:

A brand name for one of several prescription acid-blocking pharmaceuticals, at times necessitated if not actually utilized by one Richard Opalsky in order to prevent his stomach from following its autodigestive tendencies. (see also Prilosec)

Zappa, Frank:

ãNow here is an instrument of spewing forth true obscenity, you know? If ever thereâs an obscene noise to be made on an instrument, itâs going to come out of the guitar... Letâs be realistic about this, the guitar can be the single most blasphemous device on the face of the earth. Thatâs why I like it... The disgusting stink of a too-loud guitar: now thatâs my idea of a good timeä 23 (Clearly Frank has never heard the New Music)

Zoloft:

A widely used anti-depressant, prescribed in a similar manner as Prozac. More people than I can count are on or have been on this drug, including many people for whom I feel great love. I used to have a really easy solution to this problem, but as I gain more familiarity with the situations and emotions which require psychiatric medication, I become more confused. In fact, within in my own mind, I wonder ãwhat is it which causes me to feel so gloomy so often?ä Is it this world, seemingly so unjust and cruel? If so, I am doomed, for this world seems unlikely to change to the radical degree aspired to by my sensitivities. Is it my make-up, my chemistry, my disposition? If so, is this something I can change? Or, is it the way Iâm doing things? Is there some sort of key that I can turn and make everything all right? I am left with the question: ãWould I even have the chance to try to unravel these mysteries if my depressive and introspective nature were medicated away?ä.

Zone:

This is sort of a sports term, you know: that mystical place where an athlete can do no wrong. We experience no such sports phenomena, but maintain that there is a sort of ãzoneä where musicians or conversationalists or lovers need no longer communicate directly, where a sudden air of unspoken understanding takes over and all is easy, obvious and whole.
