FORSTELLA FORD Insincerity Down to An Artform CD
[MTN 23 - Winter1999 - 1000 copies]
"You can't deny the riff at the end of "At Moments." The thing simply rocks. The rest of the CD is pretty damn good as well. The way the songs bleed together creates a live feel with urgency and the noisy endings of whistling guitars and a drummer who is pounding the kit to pieces. The application of piano on "Cosimo Comma A" is an excellent touch, adding a somber edge to the already melancholy introduction. Definately one of the best bands of this style." - Engine Fanzine
"On tour in Tennessee I sat down after my bandâs set to watch whoever was going to play next. I was tired, grumpy and positive that this band, like nearly all the rest I had seen on tour, was going to be somewhere between mediocre and bad. But then they started playing and I just sat there with my mouth open while they tour it up. The musicianship was incredible (especially the drumming ö holy crap), the music was progressive and logical and the band exuded sincerity. So when I got home the only logical thing to do was to help put out their music. I think everything I noticed live about FOFO comes through on the CD. They do some really amazing stuff on this record and to catch all the nuances they cram into their chaotic mess you need to crank up the volume and listen carefully. This CD does not get old because they manage to do so much in each song. I actually have a hard time enjoying this sometimes because I want to study how theyâre doing what theyâre doing. You need to listen to the CD repeatedly for each instrument because theyâre all always doing something interesting that youâre going to want to focus on. Iâm listening to it again for 1000th time as I write this and I canât believe Iâm still hearing new stuff. Do yourself a favor and see them live, feel your head explode and then buy this CD." - BEN, MTNCIA
